Rochester is a village located in Racine County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,149.

Geography

\nAccording to the
United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.4 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.55% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 1,149 people, 410 households, and 307 families residing in the village. The population density is 905.4/km² (2,360.6/mi²). There are 425 housing units at an average density of 334.9 persons/km² (873.1 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.30% White, 0.09% African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.70% from other races, and 1.39% from two or more races. 3.48% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 410 households out of which 43.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.7% are married couples living together, 9.5% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 24.9% are non-families. 19.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.80 and the average family size is 3.22. In the village the population is spread out with 30.5% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 33.3% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 6.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 108.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.5 males. The median income for a household in the village is $55,063, and the median income for a family is $61,875. Males have a median income of $42,159 versus $30,184 for females. The per capita income for the village is $21,609. 4.7% of the population and 4.9% of families are below the poverty line.
