Roche Abbey

Roche Abbey is a ruined abbey near Maltby, Yorkshire, England. It is situated in a misty valley alongside Maltby Beck and King's Wood, and there is a small visitors' centre in the grounds.

The abbey was founded in 1147 by the Cistercians and is in the care of English Heritage. It was dissolved by King Henry VIII of England, and is now in ruins, but the walls of the north and south transepts are still impressive. The remains stand in an area landscaped by Capability Brown.

There are several local legends concerning ghosts, tunnels to other buildings, and even a lost wishing well.
