Rani Lakshmi Bai

Rani Lakshmi Bai was the female leader of Jhansi, in the Maratha Empire. Her territory was taken from her under the Doctrine of Lapse in 1853. She led a revolt against the British during the Events of 1857 and died fighting.

Later, when the Indian National Army created a female unit, it was named after her.
