Geography

Progreso Lakes is located at 26°4'24" North, 97°57'41" West (26.073384, -97.961371)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²). 5.4 km² (2.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.11% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 234 people, 83 households, and 68 families residing in the city. The population density is 43.0/km² (111.4/mi²). There are 88 housing units at an average density of 16.2/km² (41.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.86% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.71% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 39.74% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 83 households out of which 33.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.5% are married couples living together, 6.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 16.9% are non-families. 13.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
