Prince of Wales building

The Prince of Wales building is a building in Central, Hong Kong. It currently houses the headquarters of the local garrison of the People's Liberation Army.

History

Initially named the HSM Tamar after a military British transport vessel, it was renamed the Prince of Wales building in 1976, and housed the headquarters of the British garrison in Hong Kong until the territory's handover to the People's Republic of China on June 30, 1997.

After that, it was renamed the Central Barracks, although the Prince of Wales building inscription remained visible for several years.
