Prien is a town located in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 7,215.

1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 20.4 km² (7.9 mi²). 17.9 km² (6.9 mi²) of it is land and 2.4 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 11.96% water.


\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 7,215 people, 2,582 households, and 2,050 families residing in the town. The population density is 402.6/km² (1,042.8/mi²). There are 2,712 housing units at an average density of 151.3/km² (392.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 90.77% White, 6.26% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.65% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 1.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,582 households out of which 43.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.3% are married couples living together, 10.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.6% are non-families. 16.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.79 and the average family size is 3.15. In the town the population is spread out with 30.0% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 8.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 95.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.3 males.
