Ploiesti

Ploieşti is a city in the Prahova county in Romania with a population of about 250,000.

Before World War II, this region was one of the most important oil fields in the world. During the war it was the main source of oil for Nazi Germany and was heavily bombed by the British and American forces.

Although oil production is now much lower, there is still a flourishing oil processing industry.
