Phantom Power (album)

Phantom Power is the sixth full-length album by Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip.

The album was released in 1998. Though well-received, like all their albums, it is not generally considered their best work, despite the popularity of songs such as Poets and Bobcaygeon. It was also released in the United States, but they continued to have little success there, unlike fellow Canadians Barenaked Ladies whose album Stunt made them enormously popular in the US that same year.

All songs were written by The Tragically Hip.

Phantom Power is also the sixth album by Welsh rock band Super Furry Animals.

The album was released in 2003, and featured a range of songs more acoustic in style, while retaining the Furries' techno subtlties. The stand-out track, is the seven-minute epic Slow Life, which blends pop, techno and folk. The album has been received extremely well, with many critics suggesting it is the best album of their career.

Phantom Power makes reference, through such songs as Liberty Belle, and The Piccolo Snare, to the war on Iraq. The album, like their last (Rings Around The World), was simultaneously released on CD, vinyl and DVD, accompanied by full-length videos, animations and remixes.
