Pershing missile

The Pershing was a US-made, medium-range, tactical missile, the last version of which (the Pershing II) had a range of 1,080 miles. It was capable of delivering either a conventional or nuclear warhead.

The Pershing is the successor of the Redstone rocket, and both were deployed in West Germany during the Cold War.

The Pershing could be fired from a mobile launch vehicle, and was employed in 1983 to deter Soviet invasion of Europe.

US deployment of the Pershing in West Germany spurred the 1987 Treaty on Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces, the provisions of which eliminated a number of US and Soviet short and medium-range missile systems.
