Panama City Beach is a city located in Bay County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 7,671.

Demographics

census of 2000, there are 7,671 people, 3,529 households, and 2,219 families residing in the city. The population density is 426.8/km² (1,104.9/mi²). There are 8,910 housing units at an average density of 495.7/km² (1,283.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.21% White, 0.87% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.78% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.34% from other races, and 1.26% from two or more races. 2.20% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 3,529 households out of which 19.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% are married couples living together, 6.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.1% are non-families. 29.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.17 and the average family size is 2.66. In the city the population is spread out with 16.5% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 29.0% from 45 to 64, and 20.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 100.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.7 males. The median income for a household in the city is $41,198, and the median income for a family is $49,127. Males have a median income of $32,459 versus $22,358 for females. The per capita income for the city is $26,734. 5.0% of the population and 2.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 3.9% are under the age of 18 and 4.5% are 65 or older.
