Orthodox Celts

Orthodox Celts is an Irish music band from Belgrade, Serbia.

As a popular Irish band they are practically unique not only in Serbia but in whole Southeastern Europe, and wider. Despite that, since they are founded in 1993 they are one of most popular bands overall in Serbia. Their music, on its very own, lead to popularisation of Irish and Celtic music and other aspects of Irish and Celtic culture (Especially Guinness) in Serbia. Of course, band members are fans of Celtic football club, and some of the band's fans became too.

The band started the career with their versions of traditional Irish songs and, gradually, introduced more and more own songs (lyrics mostly by Aleksandar, music mostly by Ana). All their songs are in English language (as they say, in Irish language). And they're not afraid of purely instrumental songs. Several songs got video spots.

The Celts have had several tours and numerous concerts (including in Sava Centre, the largest concert hall in Yugoslavia) throughout Serbia and Montenegro, and some concerts outside of it. Now already traditionally, they are celebrating St. Patrick's Day with a large concert in Belgrade.

But in all interviews they state that their greatest desire is to tour Ireland. No band member has ever visited Ireland!
