Operation Sutton

During the 1982 Falklands War. Operation Sutton was the British landings on Ajax Bay near the San Carlos settlements on East Falkland Island. Five thousand soldiers and Royal Marines came ashore against no ground opposition.

The invasion, part of the overall Corporate plan sparked a strong reply from the Argentine Air Force who sunk the frigate H.M.S. Ardent at a cost of 16 warplanes lost.
