Olympic Distance Triathlon

A triathlon is an athletic event made up of three contests. The usual triathlon is a combination of swimming, cycling and running.

There are a number of standard triathlon race distances, including the Olympic distance (also known as the Classic distance), which is comprised of a 1,500 metre swim, followed by a 40 km bike, followed by a 10 km run.

This was the form of triathlon that was contested at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
