Nouadhibou

Nouadhibou is one of the largest cities in Mauritania and serves as the country's commercial center. It is situated on a 40-mile peninsula (Cap Blanc) less than a mile from the border of Western Sahara. The major economic activity is fishing; however, the largest industry is processing iron shipped from the interior mining towns of Zouérat and Fdérik. Its population is approximately 89,000.
