North Ridgeville is a city located in Lorain County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 22,338.

Geography

North Ridgeville is located at 41°23'22" North, 82°0'17" West (41.389546, -82.004605)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 60.9 km² (23.5 mi²). 60.5 km² (23.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.60% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 22,338 people, 8,356 households, and 6,434 families residing in the city. The population density is 369.1/km² (955.8/mi²). There are 8,587 housing units at an average density of 141.9/km² (367.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.36% White, 0.86% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.92% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.49% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. 1.99% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 8,356 households out of which 32.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.1% are married couples living together, 8.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.0% are non-families. 19.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.65 and the average family size is 3.05.

In the city the population is spread out with 24.4% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 27.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.6 males.

North Ridgeville is the home of the Corn Festival, held on the second weekend of August. North Ridgeville has no famous inhabitants, and is known for its high level of corn production per capita.
