Department of Internal Affairs: New Zealand's oldest government department. Formed in 1840 as the Colonial Secretary's Office, it gained its present name in 1907.

Presently, major services include:

• Community development
• Gaming enforcement and lottery grants
• Censorship enforcement
• Citizenship grants and passport issue
