Negev

The Negev is the desert region of southern Israel. Its capital is the city of Beersheba (pop. around 200,000), in the north.

Geographically, the Negev forms an inverted triangle whose western side is continuous with the desert of the Sinai peninsula, and whose eastern border is the northeast arm of the great Rift Valley of Africa.

The southern end is at the Gulf of Eilat with the town Eilat.
