National Assembly of Kuwait

The National Assembly of Kuwait is the parliament of Kuwait. Its powers are largely controlled by the emir. The emir dissolved the National Assembly in 1981, and restored it after the Gulf War in 1991. In 1999 his government enfranchised women, allowing them to be elected to the Assembly.
