Mohammed V of Morocco

Mohammed V (1909-1961) was Sultan of Morocco from 1927 to 1961. In 1953 he was dethroned by the French colonial administration.

He returned to power 2 years later after unrest followed his unpopular succesor. Mohammed was then responsible for negotiating Moroccan independence. In 1957 he took the title 'King'.
