Millbank

Millbank is an area of London, England, that is between Pimlico and Westminster. The area derives its name from a mill house belonging to Westminster Abbey. By the 18th Century the area was dominated by a jail used in the deportation of other prisoners to the colonies.

Millbank is a road on the north bank of the river. Many MPss' offices are based here.

In British politics the term Millbank Machine or Millbank Tendency was used to refer to workers from the Labour Party headquarters which was based in Millbank Tower. These workers were seen to be spin doctors and supporters of Tony Blair. The Labour Party moved from Millbank in 2002.

The Tate Britain museum is also located on the river bank.
