Millbrook is a city located in Autauga County, Alabama and partially in Elmore County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the city is 10,386.

Geography

The city has a total area of 25.1 km² (9.7 mi²). 24.7 km² (9.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.75% water.

Demographics

As of 2000, there are 10,386 people, 3,660 households, and 2,931 families residing in the city. The population density is 421.2/km² (1,091.3/mi²). There are 3,897 housing units at an average density of 158.1 persons/km² (409.5 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 79.86% White, 17.11% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.57% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.56% from other races, and 1.34% from two or more races. 1.44% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,660 households out of which 45.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.5% are married couples living together, 12.2% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 19.9% are non-families. 16.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.84 and the average family size is 3.21.

In the city the population is spread out with 31.7% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 34.5% from 25 to 44, 19.1% from 45 to 64, and 7.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 95.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $43,838, and the median income for a family is $47,004. Males have a median income of $34,893 versus $23,998 for females.
