census of 2000, there are 1,000 people, 382 households, and 270 families residing in the village. The population density is 394.0/km² (1,015.7/mi²). There are 444 housing units at an average density of 174.9/km² (451.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.20% White, 0.20% African American, 0.80% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 1.60% from two or more races. 0.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 382 households out of which 35.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.7% are married couples living together, 12.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.1% are non-families. 22.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.00. In the village the population is spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.9 males.
