Maurice Garin

Maurice Garin (March 3, 1871-February 19, 1957) was the first winner of the Tour de France. He was born in Italy but became a natrualized French citizen. After losing in the 1904 race he retired from professional cycling and ran a small repair shop in Lens until his death.
