Marissa is a village located in St. Clair County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,141.

1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 10.1 km² (3.9 mi²). 9.6 km² (3.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.12% water.


\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 2,141 people, 879 households, and 595 families residing in the village. The population density is 222.2/km² (576.1/mi²). There are 992 housing units at an average density of 103.0/km² (266.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.97% White, 0.28% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.05% from other races, and 0.37% from two or more races. 0.75% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 879 households out of which 29.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.6% are married couples living together, 11.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.3% are non-families. 28.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.96. In the village the population is spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.0 males. The median income for a household in the village is $31,684, and the median income for a family is $41,898. Males have a median income of $31,654 versus $23,024 for females.
