Maple Grove is a city located in Hennepin County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 50,365.

Geography

\nAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 90.5 km² (35.0 mi²). 85.1 km² (32.9 mi²) of it is land and 5.4 km² (2.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.95% water.

\nAs of the census of 2000, there are 50,365 people, 17,532 households, and 13,955 families residing in the city. The population density is 591.6/km² (1,532.3/mi²). There are 17,745 housing units at an average density of 208.4/km² (539.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.74% White, 1.05% African American, 0.24% Native American, 2.52% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.34% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. 1.06% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 17,532 households out of which 46.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.5% are married couples living together, 7.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.4% are non-families. 15.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.87 and the average family size is 3.24.
