Lyman is a village located in Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 421.

1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²). 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 421 people, 162 households, and 106 families residing in the village. The population density is 416.8/km² (1,083.3/mi²). There are 179 housing units at an average density of 177.2/km² (460.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 76.96% White, 0.00% African American, 0.24% Native American, 1.43% Asian, 0.24% Pacific Islander, 19.95% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. 34.44% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 162 households out of which 31.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.2% are married couples living together, 8.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.0% are non-families. 29.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.23. In the village the population is spread out with 29.9% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 82.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.1 males. The median income for a household in the village is $23,571, and the median income for a family is $27,969. Males have a median income of $26,250 versus $14,107 for females. The per capita income for the village is $13,080. 27.3% of the population and 20.6% of families are below the poverty line.
