Loudon is a town located in Loudon County, Tennessee. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 4,476. It is the county seat of Loudon County6.

1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 25.0 km² (9.6 mi²). 24.1 km² (9.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.42% water.

Demographics

census of 2000, there are 4,476 people, 1,858 households, and 1,202 families residing in the town. The population density is 185.4/km² (480.3/mi²). There are 2,007 housing units at an average density of 83.1/km² (215.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 92.98% White, 3.22% African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.03% from other races, and 1.07% from two or more races. 3.24% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,858 households out of which 27.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.0% are married couples living together, 12.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% are non-families. 31.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.29 and the average family size is 2.85. In the town the population is spread out with 21.3% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 22.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 84.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 80.6 males.
