Lockhart is a town located in Orange County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 12,944.

census of 2000, there are 12,944 people, 4,642 households, and 3,305 families residing in the town. The population density is 1,143.6/km² (2,963.6/mi²). There are 4,952 housing units at an average density of 437.5/km² (1,133.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 73.79% White, 16.08% African American, 0.58% Native American, 2.21% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 4.21% from other races, and 3.09% from two or more races. 16.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 4,642 households out of which 37.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.3% are married couples living together, 16.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% are non-families. 20.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.79 and the average family size is 3.20. In the town the population is spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 34.1% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 8.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 98.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.9 males. The median income for a household in the town is $38,169, and the median income for a family is $39,786. Males have a median income of $30,337 versus $24,006 for females.
