Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 282 people, 137 households, and 69 families residing in the village. The population density is 302.4/km² (789.5/mi²). There are 172 housing units at an average density of 184.5/km² (481.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 93.97% White, 1.06% African American, 0.71% Native American, 1.06% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.06% from other races, and 2.13% from two or more races. 1.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 137 households out of which 14.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.4% are married couples living together, 8.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 49.6% are non-families. 44.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 27.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.86 and the average family size is 2.55. In the village the population is spread out with 14.5% under the age of 18, 3.9% from 18 to 24, 16.7% from 25 to 44, 27.0% from 45 to 64, and 37.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 57 years. For every 100 females there are 79.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 75.9 males. The median income for a household in the village is $19,191, and the median income for a family is $30,417. Males have a median income of $18,000 versus $15,625 for females.
