La Marque is a city located in Galveston County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 13,682.

census of 2000, there are 13,682 people, 5,237 households, and 3,713 families residing in the city. The population density is 371.5/km² (962.0/mi²). There are 5,732 housing units at an average density of 155.6/km² (403.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 55.84% White, 34.69% African American, 0.46% Native American, 0.47% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 6.21% from other races, and 2.31% from two or more races. 15.43% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 5,237 households out of which 30.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.3% are married couples living together, 17.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.1% are non-families. 24.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.06. In the city the population is spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 90.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 86.9 males.
