Kunzite

Kunzite is a hard pink gemstone, a variety of Spodumene with the colour coming from manganese, the other type is green and called Hiddenite.

Its chemical formula is LiAlSi2O6, which can be read Lithium Aluminum Silicate.

It was named after G. F. Kunz, who discovered it in Connecticut, USA in 1902. It is currently mined in Brazil, USA, Canada, CIS, Mexico and Sweden.
