Kings Cross, Sydney, Australia

Kings Cross is a location in Sydney, Australia. This area, located to the immediate east of Sydney's CBD, has a controversial history of vice and crime.

Known as Queen's Cross until the early 20th century, it was renamed King's Cross after Edward VII of the United Kingdom, and has retained that name since. The cross is a reference to the crossroad formed by William Street and Darlinghurst Road.

Once a suburb name, it is now a generic name for the area surrounding Darlinghurst Road.
