King City is a city located in Gentry County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,012.

There are 485 housing units at an average density of 135.7/km² (351.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 98.72% White, 0.20% African American, 0.20% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.89% from two or more races. 1.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 418 households out of which 33.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.9% are married couples living together, 7.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.8% are non-families. 30.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.98. In the city the population is spread out with 28.0% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who are 65 years of age or older.
