Joan Jett

Joan Jett is a rock and roll guitarist and singer.

Career and Biography

She was born in 1960 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but moved with her family to Hollywood, California at a young age.

She first gained attention as the guitarist, main songwriter and occasional singer in the pioneering all-women band The Runaways, known for pre-punk hard rock.

After the Runaways disbanded in 1980, she produced an album for Los Angeles punk band, The Germs, then embarked on a solo career, having hits with "I Love Rock and Roll" and covers of Tommy James' "Crimson and Clover" and Gary Glitter's "Do You Wanna Touch Me". She co-starred in the 1986 film Light of Day.
