Jan Pieterszoon Coen

Jan Pieterszoon Coen a.k.a J.P. Coen was an officer of Dutch East India Company in the early seventeenth century. He became the 1st governor of Batavia, after he captured it from Banten forces. Though he is not generally well known, he does appear in almost every Indonesian history textbook.
