Incidental radiator

A incidental radiator is any device which creates radio waves as part of its normal operation, but is not specifically designed to do so.

The motor, transformer, dimmer, and even powerlines fall into this category. The alternating current and electromagnetic fields used in these devices often creates interference on AM radio, and on the video of television stations.
