Ideal Township is a township located in Crow Wing County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 950.

Geography

\nAccording to the
United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 90.8 km² (35.0 mi²). 50.8 km² (19.6 mi²) of it is land and 40.0 km² (15.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 44.04% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 950 people, 435 households, and 317 families residing in the township. The population density is 18.7/km² (48.4/mi²). There are 1,416 housing units at an average density of 27.9/km² (72.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.05% White, 0.32% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.21% from two or more races. 0.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 435 households out of which 19.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% are married couples living together, 4.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.1% are non-families. 23.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.18 and the average family size is 2.56. In the township the population is spread out with 17.3% under the age of 18, 4.2% from 18 to 24, 18.4% from 25 to 44, 31.2% from 45 to 64, and 28.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 52 years. For every 100 females there are 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.0 males. The median income for a household in the township is $46,607, and the median income for a family is $51,167. Males have a median income of $41,875 versus $25,694 for females.
