It was the birthplace of Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945), 32nd President of the United States (1933-1945). It is also the site of the Culinary Institute of America, one of the many mansions of Cornelius Vanderbilt, Valkill (the home of Eleanor Roosevelt), and a number of other historic landmarks.
