Demographics\nAs of the census of 2000, there are 7,524 people, 2,951 households, and 1,590 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,338.7/km² (3,468.2/mi²). There are 3,347 housing units at an average density of 595.5/km² (1,542.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 64.29% White, 24.02% African American, 0.28% Native American, 2.84% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 4.15% from other races, and 4.41% from two or more races. 8.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
