Hillsmere Shores is a town located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,977.

1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 5.3 km² (2.0 mi²). 3.6 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is land and 1.7 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 31.53% water.

Demographics

census of 2000, there are 2,977 people, 1,107 households, and 867 families residing in the town. The population density is 826.9/km² (2,141.8/mi²). There are 1,140 housing units at an average density of 316.7/km² (820.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 94.02% White, 1.98% African American, 0.07% Native American, 1.55% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.64% from other races, and 1.75% from two or more races. 1.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,107 households out of which 31.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.9% are married couples living together, 9.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.6% are non-families. 15.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 2.92. In the town the population is spread out with 23.0% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 32.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.1 males. The median income for a household in the town is $72,035, and the median income for a family is $72,685. Males have a median income of $57,039 versus $35,000 for females.
