Herbert Hupka

Herbert Hupka (born 1915 in Ratibor (now Racibórz), Upper Silesia), Dr. phil., German journalist and politician (CDU). He was a member of the Bundestag 1969-1987 and president of the Landsmannschaft Schlesien 1968-2000. He has also been president of the Ostdeutscher Kulturrat and Vice President of the Bund der Vertriebenen (Federation of Expellees).

Hupka, once the target of communist hate propaganda, currently is employed by the local government of Silesia as an advisor and was recently made Citizen of Honour of Ratibor/Racibórz.
