Halfway is a town located in Washington County, Maryland. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 10,065.

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 10,065 people, 4,275 households, and 2,851 families residing in the town. The population density is 828.6/km² (2,147.6/mi²). There are 4,424 housing units at an average density of 364.2/km² (944.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.47% White, 2.13% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.97% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 0.24% from other races, and 0.98% from two or more races. 1.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 4,275 households out of which 26.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.2% are married couples living together, 10.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.3% are non-families. 29.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.32 and the average family size is 2.85. In the town the population is spread out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 21.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 86.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 81.6 males.
