Greenstone

Greenstone is a rock formed by the metmorphization of basalt. It is composed of chlorite and epidote which makes greenstone green.

Greenstone is a very hard stone. Often diamond tools are needed to carve it. Beautiful jewellery can be made from it.

Called pounamu in New Zealand. Plays an important role in Maori culture.
