Georgiana is a town located in Butler County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 1,737.


\nGeorgiana is located at 31°38'24.313" North, 86°44'21.991" West (31.640087, -86.739442). According to the
U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 16.2 km² (6.3 mi²). 16.2 km² (6.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


\nAs of the
census2 of 2000, there are 1,737 people, 697 households, and 462 families residing in the town. The population density is 107.1/km² (277.3/mi²). There are 829 housing units at an average density of 51.1/km² (132.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 37.36% White, 61.77% Black or African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.63% from two or more races. 0.35% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 697 households out of which 31.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.6% are married couples living together, 25.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.7% are non-families. 31.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.38 and the average family size is 2.97. In the town the population is spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 22.0% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 21.8% who are 65 years of age or older.
