Franz Fanon

Franz Fanon (born 1925) was born in Martinique. Trained as a doctor, he was sent to fight for the French in their war against Algeria, but his sympathies quickly turned to the Algerian resistance. His most influential book, The Wretched of the Earth, was published in 1963. In it, Fanon argued that colonialism does political, psychological, and moral damage to the colonized as well.
