EDID

EDID is an acronym for Extended Display Identification Data, which is a standard produced by VESA for identifying the capacities of computer monitorss by way of the electrical lines connected to a graphics card.

The first version of EDID, 1.0, was produced in August 1994. Since then, versions 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 2.0 have appeared. An enhanced version EEDID (Extended Display Identification Data) appeared in July, 2001.
