East Meadow is a town located in Nassau County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 37,461.

census of 2000, there are 37,461 people, 12,186 households, and 9,651 families residing in the town. The population density is 2,299.5/km² (5,955.0/mi²). There are 12,375 housing units at an average density of 759.6/km² (1,967.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 85.29% White, 4.32% African American, 0.15% Native American, 6.68% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.96% from other races, and 1.57% from two or more races. 7.01% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 12,186 households out of which 35.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.2% are married couples living together, 9.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.8% are non-families. 17.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.94 and the average family size is 3.34. In the town the population is spread out with 23.4% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.5 males. The median income for a household in the town is $67,185, and the median income for a family is $74,691. Males have a median income of $50,325 versus $35,422 for females.
