East Kilbride

East Kilbride is a town in West Central Scotland, about 10 miles south of Glasgow. East Kilbride emerged from a small village of around 900 inhabitants to a busy new town with a population of 80,000. Twinned with the village of Ballerup in Denmark, the town recently lost out to Stirling in city status by the Queen and prior to that it lost out to Inverness as the Millennium city.

East Kilbride sits on the Calder rivers and with its huge covered town centre, it holds the title of having the largest indoor shopping centre in Scotland and 10th largest in Europe.
