Duxford

Duxford is a village in Cambridgeshire, England, some ten miles south of Cambridge. It gives its name to the former Royal Air Force airfield that used to be a sector station during the Battle of Britain. Duxford airfield was the home of Douglas Bader's Big Wing during the battle. It later became a fighter airfield for the United States Army Air Force.

After the war the airfield fell into disuse until it was used in the Battle of Britain film. Later it was purchased by the Imperial War Museum. Today it houses the Imperial War Museum's aircraft collection and well as its land warfare collection of tanks. A recent addition, the American Air Museum in Britain, has been added to the museum complex.
