Dugout

A rectangular wooden object used to store tobacco and a smoking utensil referred to as a 'bat', which is aluminum in construction and is usually painted to resemble a cigarette. The dugout can be small or large, with the smaller ones being the height of a lighter. Larger ones are the size of a pack of cigarettes. The size of the bat matches accordingly.

The dugout is considered a highly efficient method of smoking, and is therefore beneficial for conserving ones tobacco.

It is known that some people use these tools to smoke substances other than tobacco. The dugout is noted for being especially easy to use while riding in a motor vehicle or covertly in a number of situations.

The dugout is sometimes referred to as a 'one-hitter' because of the propensity of smokers to be able to exhaust the entire contents of the bat in one protracted drag.
